VIP GRANT PROGRAM
PURPOSE:
The AALL annual meeting VIP grant program exists
to provide grants to send up to two members of the legal,
governmental or information community to the AALL annual
meeting. VIP means "Valuable Invited Participant," whose
participation in the annual meeting with our members will serve
to establish or augment existing connections. VIPs receive free
full registration including opening luncheon and closing
banquet. AALL provides the free registration.
Potential
VIP candidates:
-
Presidents of local bar
associations, the state bar association, or the chair of the
bar's technology committee
-
Chief administrators for state
trial or appellate courts or the federal courts
-
President of the local, state
or regional chapter of the Association of Legal
Administrators
-
Deans or faculty members from
the library schools
-
Deans or faculty members from
local law schools
-
Judges of any of the courts in
the region
-
Members of local county law
library boards of trustees
-
Law firm library committee
partner or firm administrator
-
Individual who has
responsibility for local or state government website
development
-
Editor or reporter for a legal
newspaper
-
A state representative,
senator, or other official who has been active in library or
technology issues
Expectations
of VIP's:
-
Attend the entire AALL annual
meeting
-
Attend the California joint
chapters’ reception at the annual meeting
-
Share experiences of
conference with NOCALL in some way, e.g., write an account
for the NOCALL News or speak at NOCALL meeting or
program
Duties
of NOCALL Member Nominator:
-
Explain program and benefits
of attending the AALL Annual meeting to potential VIP
-
Complete nominations
application and send to Grants Committee by nominations
deadline
-
Host VIP during AALL annual
meeting (doesn't mean you have to be joined at the hip
during the meeting)
-
Facilitate registration and
travel arrangements
-
Review program and activities
with VIP
-
Facilitate follow-up
activities
Duties
of Grants Committee:
-
Advertise VIP Grants Program
on NOCALL listserv, NOCALL News, and nocall.org
-
Make application forms
available
-
Evaluate applications and
select VIPs
-
Contact selected VIPs and VIP
nominator
-
Announce VIPs to NOCALL
members and AALL headquarters contact
-
Request NOCALL treasurer to
issue and send travel allotment check to VIPs
Duties
of Executive Board:

Determine whether travel
allotment will be awarded
-
Treasurer to issue travel
allotment check, if awarded
