The Law Library is part of the John F. Kennedy University School of
Law. The collection includes over 30,000 volumes, plus microfiche,

The requirements for this position are generally stated and may be
waived under certain circumstances: A Master’s degree in Library and
Information Studies, a solid knowledge of law library operations,
law materials, and legal publishers. Supervisory experience,
preferably in a library setting will be considered. Must be

The Contra Costa County Public Law Library and the Contra Costa
County Superior Court are seeking a Library Director/ Law Librarian
to work jointly for both organizations. Approximately 75% of the
Director’s time will be spent for the Public Law Library, overseeing
staff and services and working with the Library Board of Directors
to implement a strategic plan to maximize regional coordination of
library services and continue to enhance the quality of law library
services to County residents. Approximately 25% of the Director’s
time will be spent for the Superior Court, managing and maintaining
its collection of law books.
Located in Martinez, the
Contra Costa
County Public Law Library operates as a separate entity from county
government and receives no general appropriations from the county
board of supervisors.
However, the county does provide quarters for the law library
located in the
A. F. Bray
Courts Building. Funding for the law library is derived from a
portion of court filing fees.
The Library has a main branch with three staff members and a
satellite location in Richmond with one additional staff member.
There are plans for one additional branch to be added in Pittsburg
(Construction is estimated to be completed in 2010.) For more

This opportunity requires an MLS from an ALA-accredited program, or
a JD from an ABA-accredited law school, as well as law library
experience, excellent legal research skills and demonstrated ability
to manage and supervise. Experience developing web pages is also

Law Librarian is an exempt management position that offers PERS

Responsibilities: Reporting to the Associate Director, the
position has the following responsibilities:
* Manages the library's electronic information resources,
improving access to electronic resources, and providing technical
support, including assistance with authentication, license

resources, and assists with
reference desk services as needed. Assists with setting up
personal
profiles for law faculty tailored to specific research and
scholarship. Resolves access questions and problems with vendors.

accounting unit as needed in maintaining subscription status,
licensing information, and payments. Arranges trials of new

assists staff with setup or function issues, backups, printing,
troubleshoots problems, adjusts load tables, and other technical
requirements as needed. Coordinates server operations with the IT

* Oversees and resolves technical issues with the library's
Interlibrary Loan system, VDX/OCLC. Responsible for setup,
interface with OCLC, reports, and statistics.

software purchases, and desktop support with the Law School

Qualifications: Masters degree in library science from an
