  • Tuesday, January 28, 2014, 11:00 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.: TheNOCALL January Business Meeting  at McDermott Will & Emory LLP in Menlo Park. Many thanks to Eric Montes, who is hosting the event, and to Jodi Collova, Chair of NOCALL’s Education Committee, for developing an interesting and educational program.  The program will include a demo update from Sharon Pate of Bloomberg BNA plus panel discussion.   • March 10, 2014: Deadline for submissions to Noshing with NOCALL, to be e-published on iTunes in time for the Spring Institute. NOCALL members are invited to submit favorite recipes, videos of the preparation process, and photos of the finished product using this easy link.
  • Friday, March 15, 2014: Deadline for submission of nomination forms and supporting documentation for the 2014 NOCALL Professional Achievement Award and the 2014 NOCALL Advocacy Award. Information about both awards and the nomination forms for each are available at the Nocall website. Nominations should be submitted to Chuck Marcus, Past President of NOCALL and Chair of the Awards Committee.
  • March 21-22, 2014: Congratulations and thanks to all who made the  NOCALL 2014 Spring Institute — Navigating Rough Seas, Charting a Course for Success —  a resounding success.
  • April 16, 2014: Brown Bag Lunch Seminar on Water Law.  NOCALL is sponsoring a brown bag lunch with Doug Obegi, a staff attorney with the Natural Resources Defense Council and a UC Hastings graduate. Doug will discuss the current challenges facing California’s water management system, as well as potential solutions. Please join us at UC Hastings in Classroom 640 in the 200 McAllister Building, from noon to 1 PM.  Please RSVP via email to education@nocall.org The event is free for NOCALL members.
  • Tuesday, April 29, 2014, 5:30 p.m. Please join your law library colleagues for Happy Hour at SomaR Bar in Oakland. SomaR Bar–a lounge/bar and art community– is conveniently located very close to the 19th St. BART station in the Uptown section of Oakland.  (Alternatively, if you’re driving, there’s plenty of parking.)  Please reply to networkworking@nocall.org no later than April 25th if you’re planning on attending!
  • Tuesday, May 20th, 2014, 12:00 EDT: Proving Your Value: Skills for Public Law Librarian Advocacy. In this 30 minute training, AALL’s Government Relations Office staff will offer practical tips to help state, court and county law librarians prove their value. Participants will learn how to effectively communicate their worth and positions, build strategic relationships, educate stakeholders, and demonstrate their vital role in promoting access to justice. Register by May 19th to learn how to equip yourself with the tools you need to advocate for yourself and your profession. This training is available at no extra cost to AALL and chapter members.
  • Thursday, May 22nd, 2014, 11:30 -1:30 :  NOCALL Spring Business Meeting at Marines Memorial Club, near Union Square in San Francisco. The Business Meeting & Awards will be followed by the induction of the new NOCALL Board. See the attached 2014 May Business Meeting invitation for details.
  • Saturday, July 12, 2014, 7-9 p.m. SANDALL will host a free reception for the five Pacific Chapters —  SANDALL, NOCALL, SCALL, LLOPS & WestPac – during the AALL Annual Meeting in San Antonio. Network at Pat O’Brien’s, located in the Grand Promenade in the historic Alamo Quarters Bldg.

  • Tuesday, July 15, 2014, 4:30 -7 p.m. Social Mixer at the end of the AALL Annual Meeting, at the Ocho Restaurant at Havana San Antonio Riverwalk. Cash bar. The restaurant has a fun Havana Hi-Fi event from 7 to 10 pm that night.

  • Tuesday, September 23, 2014., 11:00 a.m. – 1:30 p.m. NOCALL Luncheon and Business Meeting at the California State Library. Stanley Mosk Library and Courts Building, 5th Floor Meeting Room, 914 Capitol Mall, Sacramento, CA 95814.   Guest speaker is Greg Lucas, California’s newly appointed State Librarian. Docents will be available to provide building tours following the meeting.   • Friday, November 7, 2014, from 11:30 – 1:30 pm.  The 2014 NOCALL Fall Workshop will be held Friday, November 7, 2014, at Farella Braun &  Martel LLP, 235 Montgomery St., 17th Floor, San Francisco, CA 94104. Kim Clancy, Managing Director of Hampton O’Bannon Partners, LLC, and  Heather Larrick, Bay Area Office Administrator at Shearman & Sterling, will provide tips and strategies for handling salary negotiations. After their panel presentation, attendees will enjoy lunch and facilitated, small group discussions about the topics covered. Cost is $10 per person.
