  • January 28, 2010: Business Meeting 11 am – 1:30 pm at Fiorilli’s in Santa Clara. Please join us for a lovely buffet luncheon as we present our first Legislator of the Year award to Congresswoman Zoe Lofgren of the 16th Congressional District of California for her work on H.R. 2728, the William Orton Law Library Improvement and Modernization Act, authorizing Law Library of Congress funding and her long-standing membership on the Joint Committee on the Library. Additional speakers include Greg Fite and Susan Nevelow Mart of the NOCALL Government Relations Committee who will bring us up-to-date on the latest library legislation. Please RSVP to Tibisay Boggio-Turner by Friday, January 22nd.   • March 24, 2010: Sunshine Week 8:30 am – 1:30 pm at the Pacific McGeorge School of Law Classroom C in Sacramento. Sunshine Week is a national initiative about the importance of open government and the freedom of information. The Sacramento Sunshine Wekk 2010 event is sponsored by the NOCALL Government Relations Committee (NOCALL-GRC), the Special Libraries Association Sierra-Nevada Chapter (SLA), with additional support from the CA Library Association (CLA) and the CA Association of Library Trustees and Commissioners (CALTAC).You can register online here.

  • March 26, 2010: Friday Morning Sunshine Week Event 9:00 am – 12:00 pm at The Sir Francis Drake Hotel in San Francisco. NOCALL and SLA combine to present “Sunshine Week,” a webcast from Washington, D.C. that will give a critical and interesting one-year review of the Obama Administration, plus a very exciting local panel to discuss state and local government initiatives to make information available and searchable for everyone. Registration for our event will occur in advance and at the door. You can register online by choosing “Friday AM Workshop” here.  Programs & Speakers – We will have Peter Scheer, head of the First Amendment Coalition asking some hard questions about government secrecy and sunshine initiatives, Carolyn Lawson, Chief Information Officer of the California Public Utilities Commission on California’s exciting Data.CA.gov initiative, and Ron Vinson from the San Francisco-based DataSF.org project.
